Disney Plus has over 86 million registered subscribers in just over a year
The Disney Plus service, launched in November last year, has grown to 86.8 million subscribers in just over a year. As of October 3, Disney Plus had more than 73.7 million subscribers worldwide. CNET reports that in just a few months since its launch in Latin America in September, it has grown to more than 13 million subscribers.
Disney estimates it will have between 230 and 260 million subscribers worldwide by the end of 2024, the five-year term of the Disney Plus service. According to Disney, Hulu and ESPN Plus have 38.8 million and 11.5 million subscribers.
The company claims that all of Disney’s streaming services now have a total of 137.1 million subscribers. According to Disney CEO Bob Chapeck , Disney Plus has exceeded expectations. Disney Plus plans to launch a standalone service featuring live sports in June next year.
The Disney Plus / Star package is set to launch in Singapore in February next year. The service will be available at the end of the year in Eastern Europe. Hong Kong Launched in Japan and South Korea, Disney Plus’s success is expected to overtake Netflix in the next few years.
Netflix, the world’s largest video subscription service, estimates that it will have more than 200 million subscribers worldwide by the end of this year. Netflix has been in the streaming business for 13 years.
