South Korea had nearly 10 million 5G users
At the end of October, the number of 5G users in South Korea reached nearly 10 million, according to the country’s Ministry of Science and ICT. According to the Ministry of Science and Information Technology, there were 9.98 million 5G subscribers at the end of October. The Korea Herald reports that the number of 5G subscribers increased by 735,113 at the end of September.
The number of 5G subscribers in South Korea is now 14.2% of the country’s 70.4 million mobile users. South Korea is the first country in the world to launch a 5G network, and launched its commercial 5G network in April 2019.
With the rise of 5G usage, 4G subscriptions are also declining. The number of 4G subscriptions reached 53.9 million at the end of October, down from 397,118 in September. At the end of October, Apple’s iPhone 12 series also entered the South Korean market.
The iPhone 12 series is Apple’s first iPhone with 5G network. The entry of the iPhone 12 models will also boost South Korea’s 5G transition. Apple estimates that around 600,000 new iPhone 12s have been sold in South Korea since its launch on October 30.
