Over 100 million 5G phones shipped in China in 9 months
In the first nine months of 2020, China shipped 107.7 million 5G phones, according to GSMArena. That’s 47.5% of the total 225.6 million phones shipped from January to September.
According to the Chinese Academy of Information and Communication Technology, 92.4% of all phones sold in China in September were from local companies. The number of mobile phones shipped last month was 23.3 million, of which 22 million were smartphones.
Up to 14 million phones with 5G connectivity were shipped in September. There are 26 new 5G models released during this period. In terms of 5G smartphone shipments, shipments in September were up 29.6% from a year earlier.
In terms of smartphone shipments, shipments in the last nine months fell 21% from the same period last year.
